Police search for man accused of killing two teen daughters, 1st Ld-Writethru, TX
IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Police searched Wednesday for a man suspected of shooting his two teenage daughters, including one who called 911 about an hour before officers found them dead in his taxi, authorities said.
Police issued a capital murder warrant against Yaser Abdel Said, 50, of the Dallas suburb of Lewisville. He is accused of shooting Sarah Yaser Said, 17, and Amina Yaser Said, 18, in his taxi Tuesday night and abandoning it outside a hotel, leaving them to die.
After surrounding Said’s home for about five hours, yelling through loudspeakers for anyone to exit and later firing canisters inside, SWAT team members from Lewisville and Denton County went into the house Wednesday afternoon but found no one there, Irving police said.
Police say Said lived in Lewisville with his wife, two daughters and a 19-year-old son. It’s unclear where his wife and son were Wednesday.
Police said a domestic issue may have led to the girls’ shooting deaths but declined to elaborate, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in its online edition Wednesday.
One of the teens called 911 on a cell phone about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and said she was dying, but she couldn’t tell police where she was, Irving police said.
Officers were dispatched to the area, which turned out to be about half a mile from the taxi, but didn’t find anyone. Police found the taxi with the bodies inside an hour later after a cab driver called and reported a suspicious vehicle in the hotel taxi stand, said Michael Vance, general manager of the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas.
Jet Taxi operations manager Chris Petersen said he was unable to release any information but that the company was in contact with police, The Dallas Morning News reported in its online edition Wednesday.
Police described Yaser Abdel Said as about 6-foot-2, weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black turtleneck shirt or sweater, a brown coat and tan pants. He is believed to be armed with a handgun, police said.
