BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Lock Guido Petti, the only Pumas forward to start all three tests in the Scotland series, missed out on the Argentina squad to face Australia in the Rugby Championship.

Wing Bautista Delguy, who started in the series-clinching win over the Scots on Saturday in Santiago del Estero, also wasn’t on the 34-man list for the home tests on Aug. 6 in Mendoza and Aug. 13 in San Juan.

Several players injured out of the Scotland series were selected, including captain Julian Montoya. He missed the last test because of lower back pain.

Scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli tore a leg muscle in the warmup before the first test while flyhalf Nicolas Sanchez started that test but went off in the first half also with a torn leg muscle. Flyhalf Benjamin Urdapilleta missed the series because of a leg injury in the French Top 14 final. Wing Santiago Cordero was also hurt in the second test.

There were recalls for three who didn’t appear in the series; France-based midfielder Lucas Mensa, capped three times, including once in the 2019 World Cup; Worcester tighthead Santiago Medrano, capped 30 times; and Perpignan back-rower Joaquin Oviedo, whose sole cap was as a replacement against Australia last September. All three were part of Argentina XV’s recent tour of Europe.

Another three who made their debuts this month were retained: Tighthead Joel Sclavi, hooker Ignacio Ruiz and scrumhalf Lautaro Bazan Velez.
