Minnesota senator says board cleared him over COVID comments

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Republican state senator says the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice has dismissed complaints challenging his medical license over comments he made about the coronavirus.

Sen. Scott Jensen of Chaska announced on Facebook Monday that the board informed him it had completed its review and “dropped the complaints” without taking action on his medical license.

The board’s executive director, Ruth Martinez, told the Star Tribune she could not confirm Jensen’s claim.

Jensen says he does not know who filed the two complaints against him. No one has come forward publicly.

The freshman senator said earlier this month the investigation related to his criticism of the Minnesota Department of Health for following federal guidelines on when doctors should characterize deaths as due to COVID-19.

Jensen is a family physician. He is not running for reelection.
